I am suprised to see Accounting but especially Tax and Audit in the 9th rank, with difficulty 1.5. Tax laws and accounting standards can be highly complex which makes it even harder for the auditor. I would rate it at least 3.5, tax and audit even maybe 4 difficulty-wise, provided that you work for a company + 1000 employees and you report in compliance with IFRS/US Gaap

As someone who doesn’t have a math PHD, I’d take PE over HF because your fund can implode at any moment which you have almost no control over. Also it’s hyper competitive with overall terrible job security. Also your bonus might be $1m one year and $0 the next.

I work in compliance and it bothers me when theres an issue in the company that you investigate and solve the issue, but making suggestions or recommendations that the company just puts into their draw and ignore 😂

1) buyside evaluation is trash. Hedge funds are basically obsolete at this point as all the funds employ the same smart grads, use the same fast trading networks, and the same algos. Retail investors index and no longer pick stock as much creating less opportunities in the market for price arbitrage. Ditto for pivate equity which are just AUM collectors and struglle to return 10% returns after fees. In contrast, top VC funds have delivered over 5x+ multiples of invested capital over their lifetimes. 2) The best buyside job is to work for a soverign wealth fund or a family office.

Never work in consulting, especially in it consulting. It burns you out and eats your health and sanity.

having spent over 8 years in consulting and thus obviously having lots of friends in the field I got to say that stuff like "you don't work at weekends" and "you fly home on Thursday and have a short day on Friday" is extremely weird, to say the least. As well as "you don't have much to do in between projects" - that could indicate you're not good at your job and people don't need you. Maybe it's country specific but this stuff was really weird to hear
